For me, mixed media means, to paint with much more than "just" colors. I use natural materials such as soil, sand and eggshell. They either form the underpainting on which I apply the color or, when viewed from an expanded perspective, become their own color in the picture. All three materials interest me in their texture and appearance.

Soil, for example, awakens in me associations with the soil that I hold in my hands while gardening, with planet earth as a whole as well as with historical events on our planet such as the "scorched earth" war tactic.

The three paintings "Glaube Hoffnung Liebe" (Faith Hope Love) take up the latter. They represent the possibility that new things can arise even after "scorched earth" - such as the sprouting of seeds in the field or the restoration of relationships.
